HRH Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn officiates opening of Silpapirom Creative Arts and Media Centre

Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn presided over the Official Opening Ceremony of Silpapirom Creative Arts and Media Centre at the Pracha Uthit campus of Singapore International School of Bangkok (SISB) on Monday, 9th July 2018.

The name “Silpapirom”, which means “the building where we take delight in the Arts”, was bestowed by Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn.

In celebration of this event, the SISB community raised 2.5 million THB for Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn’s Foundation - the “Fund for the Development of Children and Youth in Remote Area” project.

Mr Kelvin Koh, Board Chairman of Singapore International School of Bangkok and Chief Executive Officer of SISB Public Company Limited, said: “In line with our emphasis on providing holistic education, SISB has invested in excellent new facilities so as to support and enhance our students’ learning experiences. We aspire to nurture our students to be scholars, leaders and global citizens.”

Silpapirom Creative Arts and Media Centre has a variety of facilities such as a 407-seat auditorium and a multi-purpose 120-seat mini-theatre. It also has a rehearsal studio, a film studio, a digital studio, an editing studio, a media collaboration room, classrooms and music rooms.

Silpapirom Creative Arts and Media Centre is part of the extension to SISB Pracha Uthit campus that was completed in 2016. The new facilities include an indoor, two-storey sports complex with capabilities for basketball, volleyball, badminton events and more, a fitness centre, and a 25-metre competition-standard swimming pool in addition to the existing pool. These amenities complement the Sixth Form and Secondary School academic block, which can accommodate 850 students, and has innovative classrooms, science laboratories, a multi-purpose space and a football field.

There is also a boarding house (different blocks for boys and girls) which has 96 rooms for 336 students, 8 boarding staff rooms, pantry and collaboration area on every floor, in addition to a common recreation area for our boarding students to interact.
